Here's an update on East Penn School District. These things are happening in all types of government entities!
In July, the East Penn School Board wanted to hold a retreat to discuss priorities for the school district. School Board Directors Julian Stolz and Mark Prinzinger were concerned about such a meeting and wondered if it complied with Sunshine Act requirements. Blogger Bernie O'Hare exposed the concerns. Click here and scroll down to July 16th & July 15th for the following:
"East Penn School Board: We Don't Need No Steenkin' Sunshine Act!"
"E Penn School Board Prez Condemns "Misinformation" on This Very Blog!"
"East Penn School Board Cancels Questionable Meeting"
They cancelled this questionable meeting.
At the September 8th meeting, School Director Terri Richwine stated that School Director Stolz was "sneaky" and "underhanded". How is it sneaky and underhanded to alert the public about a meeting? Isn't it sneaky and underhanded to try to hold a secret meeting?
School Directors Stolz and Prinzinger also have been advocating more open government by webcasting school board meetings. More information and public scrutiny creates better government, right?
Not according to School Director Alan Earnshaw who stated, "the minutia we discuss is relevant at the meeting but not to the public". Oh, really? Is this the minutia that has led to five straight years of tax hikes? And since when do politicians get to decide what is important for the public to know and what isn't?
At the Board Meeting on the 22nd, the proposal was defeated by a 7 - 2 vote. (Correction: Board Member Julian Stolz corrected this - it was 5 to 2 with Directors Gannon and Richwine absent.)
Also, a reception was held for the school board members by the PSEA - the teachers union! Interesting that they are wined and dined by the union, yet, when faced with a huge outcry about another tax hike, they ignored the public. Who are they representing? Well, the teachers union is spending money to host receptions for the school board. Taxpayers are supposed to shut up, not worry about minutia and pay their taxes.
More to come........

The East Penn School Board has been HAMMERED over the last 6 months. Certain board members have stacked the deck against them for the public attention. I think the teachers union was just trying to show support in a time of turmoil. It just goes to show NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!
Joe,
5-2 not 7-2 Richwine and Gannon were both absent.
Thanks for the clarification Julian.
I will amend my posting.
I do not agree with this representation that the Emmaus School Board is corrupt. This is the claim of two new Board members who's only claim to competence is their youth. Well, youth must be served, but that is no basis for judgment. In fact, their lack of experience and misunderstanding of their role as community leaders is the corrupt value.
I elect leaders to lead and manage not to bicker and raise false issues.
If there is some wrongdoing at the Emmaus school board, I think it is time to specify exactly what that is.
Some people are acting responsibly and others are not. Just because you are young doesn't mean that you are right. Just because you are old, doesn't mean you are right either, but I'd like to hear specifics as to what exactly the problem is.
We are seeking specific information. Our first Right to Know Request was rejected by the school district who played word game semantics with our request.
The next one cannot be legally rejected. I expect we will have to go to court to have the request enforced.
Are they hiding anything? We will find out, but they sure ain't cooperating.
If you have nothing to hide, then what are you worried about? The days of "Good Ole Boy's" politics is GONE!!! As a taxpayer I'm grateful to people like Julian and Mark who second guess the happenings of the school board.
Julian Stolz is a Bob Guzzardi-owned liberal. This blog should not offer him undue praise. It is people like him who are destroying Conservatism within the Republican Party!
I praise no individual. I praise (or condemn) actions.
Julian's actions so far are praise worthy.
Now, isn't the school board "owned" by the PSEA? Why are they wining and dining them?
School board is owned by "PSBA" which is just as bad as PSEA. RINO Karen Beyer is owned by both.
However, anyone owned by Bob Guzzardi is a major concern. He's a loose cannon who is actively trying to destroy the party.
Rabbi,
Happy Holy Days!
I'm not owned by anyone be it the PSBA or Bob Guzzardi.
When I first joined the Board I recieved a Packet from the PSBA (as Stop Teacher Strikes Chair Simon Campbell would say, Pretty Silly Blindingly Awful) and was informed I'm a member in good standing. I'm trying to figure out how the heck to get in "not good" standing!
I am a loose cannon but I'm not trying to destroy the Party. If you are a Big Government Republican however I'd like to give you directions to the exit. You've taken me on in the MCall forumn before. Why the Rabbi'd vitriol?
Shalom,
Julian
Oh cut me a break. If your influences are Bob Guzzardi and that desperate housewife Simon Campbell and his silly do-nothing one-person organization, then your mental stability comes into question.
The holidays were wonderful. L'shana Tova.
