We are supposed to be the party of fairness and the environment, according to her. Since when does anyone in the Republican party listen to Pelosi when referring to what our party stands for?
Like she cares about our party while she spent the last several years ripping President Bush to pieces every time he did anything, and he did those very things she stated.
Here's my thing, I am tired of being told what I am supposed to be as a Republican, especially from the left, and that includes Specter. He left us for self preservation and nothing more.
The fact is we are trying to take back our party. We are trying to get back to the principles we, the rank and file, believe in and stop supporting ideas that are contrary to who we are just to win elections. Abandoning principles hasn't worked out so well for Republicans. Not only have we lost our majority, but we have lost our soul and our credibility. It's not for lack of trying to hold on, but the leadership seems to have run roughshod over us, and we are not taking it anymore.
Listed below are many of the principles for which we are being called the extreme right wing, thus supposedly driving Sen. Specter from the party. As I list them below many R's and D's alike will find these values to be their own.
1. The constitution means something, and we should not depart from it.
2. The bailouts were wrong, the overspending has been a disaster and our children will
suffer. It's time to stop.
3. Taxes are becoming a burden, and government is wasting our money with no thought to
those who provide it.
4. Personal liberties are the most important product of our society, and we should fight for
them.
5. The first and second amendments are being shredded and it has to stop. Gun rights are not
only for hunting, and free speech isn't hateful. With rights come responsibility.
6. I oppose abortion and gay marriage and do not appreciate my tax dollars going to promote either.
7. Capitalism works. The pseudo socialistic economic structure we've been abiding by has
been most destructive to our society on many levels. Free markets promote all who are
willing to work hard, and charities also do well. The laws of economics are laid in stone, they
don't change, can't be changed and always have the same outcome.
While it comes as no surprise liberal Democrat's find these views extreme, if these principles make certain Republicans extremists to fellow party members something is wrong.

Awesome post! Keep up the good fight...
If you don't mind, I am going to print up this thread and show it to my brothers at school. They would love to see this!
Peace be with you, ~~Alex
Print away Alex, and thanks for your thoughts.
I think the country needs to be remade, I'm just not quite sure that the direction we are headed is the right one. 8 Years of George Bush were not productive, I'm not keen to judge the Obama administration on just 100 days.
Lets see where we are after two years at mid term elections. Then we can make a fair assessment.
Chris, we must look at the whole picture of where we stand in our foreign policy, economy and our safety after being hit on 9-11.
"8 Years of George Bush were not productive".
We all have our notion of what "productive" means but future problems grow when certain policies are ignored in favor of making everyone feel good for the present. If a democracy of sorts is not established in the Mideast, Muslim fanasticism will destroy Israel and will spread to the U.S. The whole reason we were attacked is because of our support for Israel. If Iran developes nuclear weapons as we know they are, we are in trouble. All the things that seem important now will be insignificant. If they hit Israel, we will be involved. We must look past our own self interests sometimes in an effort to make things better for upcoming generations as our forefathers did.
