I have been recounting the number of limited government/citizen activist groups that have been forming in the region. I have been lucky enough to be invited to most of these meetings.
Last night, another group held its first meeting at Northampton Community College. Their focus is to spread the word about individual rights and how Big Government increasingly violates and even destroys individual rights.
Who was there? About 50. Blue collar, to retired to professionals. The youngest was 18. Oldest was around 70. What was the biggest gripe (once again)?
Elected officials are failing taxpayers and are failing to defend our Founding Principles. Elected officials of BOTH PARTIES.
I have almost begged the GOP to wake up to what is happening and TAP INTO the growing movement that is taking shape.
Of course, to do that, they would have to shake off the Big Money, Big Power trip that they are focused on. Politics as usual will lead to the demise of the GOP.
In fact, a few leaders (and a Congressman) have stated that the "pendulum" will swing back because history proves that the minority party will gain seats and that the polls seem to show that the Democrats are screwing up, which will help the GOP.
Forgive me, but that is not a strategy. Sure, it might work for the next election cycle, but what then? See that is the entire problem. We have no long term strategy. And our intellectual geniuses simply hope that our opponents mess up enough so we will probably win some seats back in Congress?
Such is "leadership" among the political class of today.

Your far right extremism is disturbing but understandable because you, like your fellow republican'ts have NO ideas of what to do in these shitty times! You have no sense of economic history, and I sincerely doubt any history of this country. So go fly your flag and believe your Reagan was some amazing President and viewing hte world with rose colored glasses will change our situation. Get over yourself!

It is obvious what to do in these shi*** times.
Government created the mortgage crisis so get government out of trying to accomplish "good" things.
Cut taxes. Get out of the way of business so business can create real jobs.
Look at the infamous "Green Jobs" program. Spain started this years ago. What have they reported? For every "Green Job" created, they destroyed more than three jobs.
That is liberalism at work. Oh, yeah, the Spanish Government is NOT part of the extreme right conspiracy. Their LEFTIST government issued the report.
The only thing Obama knows about money is how to spend it, trillions of it! The Repubs are almost as bad.
The real questions we should be asking is why the government should be doing anything at all. Let's look at history: it was governmental programs and governmental threats that helped create the conditions for the subprime mess. To say that government is now the answer is nonsensical. It's not about DOING anything. It's about getting the government out of our way so WE THE PEOPLE can get us out of this mess simply by living our lives and conducting business.
Anon 11:46, 100% right on! We are fighting with each other and it is the government that is and has been the enemy for many years. We must blame ourselves for electing these power hungry licensed thieves. We are the ones that create all the wealth in this country. The tax dependent government thinks it all belongs to them and spend it before we even make it. In Communist countries, the government controls how much the workers make, here, the government controls how much we take home after taxes.
