When I started blogging, Bernie O'Hare and Chris Casey were referred to as the Pope and Buddha of Blogging, respectively. They appeared together on Channel 69 Business Matters, representing the new media. One thing they still have in common is their support of Don Cunningham. Bernie published a trillion press releases for Donny. Casey predicted a 70/30 bloodbath. The big story of this election is that Scott Ott almost succeeded in wiping that iconic smile off Donny's face. I suspect that only the Democratic straight lever pulling in Allentown saved Donny, despite his wheel barrel of campaign funds. Although no Republican may ever succeed again in Allentown, look for a strong candidate in 2013 for County Executive.

The difference between us and you is we try to inform our readers about the candidates, while you apparently prefer to take swipes at bloggers.
Mike, I honestly don't carry water for Don. I try to be objective, and I made it clear in my post over the weekend that I thought his depiction of Scott Ott mean spirited.
Voters are funny, just when you think the trends are something you can decipher, you find out you were wrong. I let the amount of money being spent in the commissioners race weigh too heavily in my handicapping. I should have stuck to my gut instinct that Glenn Eckhart was pulling away, instead I let the idea the money was making it closer have precedence.
I also thought the money was hurting more than helping McNeill, but I conveniently let my belief that the shifting demographic would cover that gap sway me there.
I stand by my previous posts, and my critiques of the mailers sent by both candidates. If you want to argue my political bent, that is fine, but I think my analysis of the mail pieces fair.
I pointed out their strengths and weaknesses, and what I thought worked and what didn't. I did this all the while acknowledging the disproportionate advantage in funding that Cunningham had.
The fact of the matter is that all across the County Democratic turnout was below 15%. The city has such a huge D majority that it did not matter, but countywide that crippled D candidates.
I haven't looked at Northampton County yet, but if I do, I bet that it trends the same.
I agree with you that the R's dropped the ball, if they had put up a credible challenger, they night have won it, and in 2013 it will be a free for all, I bet there is a waiting list to run for the seat then.
bernie, you did provide much election information for voters, and i applaud you for it. a certain number of your posts were press releases for cunningham, such as the one at the trexler game preserve.
i did advocate for lou hershman and wish i had done so for bob smith jr., an oversight on my part.
chris, you did predict a landslide for cunningham, i only pointed that fact out, no offense intended.
